Weekend Round-up
As part of what we hope will be a regular feature every Friday, SCENE.LU will post a round-up of upcoming events for the weekend ahead. So just in case you bought those tickets for Morrissey ages ago, and forgot that the gig was in fact tonight, well our little round-up will act as a reminder. The purpose is also, of course, to inform you of any events which might have slipped under your radar. So to get the ball rolling where better to start than with his majesty of misery, the aforementioned Morrissey. The ex-Smiths man makes a very welcome return to the Rockhal tonight. The gig has been sold out for some time so if you don’t have a ticket already, stay in town and make your way down to the Exit07 bar to catch the ‘Sublime Frequencies Tour’ (See Thursday‘s article).
Saturday’s recommendations kick off early with the Rock am Park show in Hesperange, starting at 17h. The bill includes local boys Baby Oil [pictured] who certainly have ‘the know-how’ to rock a gig! And Sulivan, who, if you’ve never heard them before, are also well worth checking out. [FREE]
Another local band worth catching, if math rock is your thing, are Esch/Alzette natives, Mutiny on the Bounty. The band have just released their debut album ‘Danger Mouth’, and mark the event with this FREE gig at the Kulturfabrik, kick-off 20h. You can also catch Miaow Miaow, La Fa Connected and Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep! Will undoubtedly be a crazy night.
If your musical taste is a little more sedate, you might want to check out ‘Broadway meets Les Miserables, in the Hall Sportif in Troisvierges. The show features extracts from the musical, which is based on the novel by Victor Hugo.
If you’ve got any energy or indeed money left on Sunday, why not buy the paper, regroup and take stock at the Apero Jazz morning down in the Abbaye de Neumunster. This Sunday, the Vincent Thekal Trio will do their best to ease your aching mind.
If, on the other hand, you’ve had enough music already over the weekend, you can always combine a bit of spirituality with some retail therapy at the Church Fair in Useldange (see calendar for details).
