Lycée des Arts et Métiers in Limpertsberg getting extensions
The handicraft school is getting a much-needed extension that will be completed in 2012 at a cost of 26 million euros. The pre-project summary has been presented. Those 26 million euros will buy the school a new gymnasium (which is as long as 3 basketball courts side-by-side), a new elevated school restaurant with room for 350 people, a new stairwell and a new underground parking lot. Everything will be built to the highest specifications for energy conservation, with the buildings being well-isolated and connected to the Chauffage Urbain. Principal Norbert Jacobs said he was very happy to see this project become a reality just before his retirement, saying that the new gymnasium was especially important. More detailed plans will be announced soon and the project should be completed for the start of the school year in 2012.
