Little Woodstock Festival 2009

Submitted by Doug on Wednesday, 10 June 20093 Comments

Agents of Atlas13-14 June | Ernzen, Larochette | Festival

For the fifth consecutive year, and becoming something of a fixture in the musical calendar, the Little Woodstock Festival gets under way this weekend in Ernzen, Larochette. The site is situated behind the Café Little Woodstock and as the name suggests it’s the kind of event where a multi-coloured VW microbus, flowing locks, sandals and a cheesecloth paisley coloured shirt wouldn’t go amiss.

The event, in a small way, is clawing back some of the spontaneity and fun which has been wrung out of the bigger, corporate shows which make up the bulk of summer festivals. All of the bands on offer are local and the styles are nearly as varied as they were at the event from which the festival takes it’s name.

There are too many bands to go into in any detail, but it’s safe to say there’ll be something for pretty much everyone as metal, indie, goth, folk and blues all get an airing. Having said that I would just mention that Agents Of Atlas [pictured left], who are third up on Saturday, promise to be one of the highlights of the day. They’re an indie guitar band with good songs. Their ’Safe as Sound’ E.P. is one of the better things I’ve heard coming out of Luxembourg for a while. After the last main band on Saturday night a huge bonfire will be lit and an acoustic band will be on hand to keep things moving and chilling into the wee, wee hours. Quentin Lagonza

On the logistics side, camping and parking is included in the ridiculously cheap prepaid entrance charge of €12. The camping opens at 10h on Saturday morning, so you’ve got two hours to put the tent up before the first band hits the stage. And please, don’t make the mistake of thinking that you’ll do it when you get back. You know you’re only going to end up sleeping on top of it in the rain. Vendors will be selling ’festival food’ to help keep your strength up over the course of the two days. You’ll need it, because you still have to put that tent up. Last band on Sunday finishes just after 18h, which gives you an hour to get back to your car, get packed, and disassemble the tent that you never put up.

The full line up is:
Saturday: Asathor, Rude Revelation, Agents of Atlas, Scarred, Taxi, Luceed, Velvet Minx, Lazy Bones, Real Time Spinners.

Sunday: Drummer Boys, Quentin Lagonza [pictured right], K’OS INK, Trickster’s Day, Sticky Fingers Blues Band, LCN, Abstract Rapture.

One other thing, no glass bottles are allowed at the festival, just cans, bottles and condoms…

Entrance: €12 presale (from Café Little Woodstock only). €15 on door
